Interviewer: Your voice, where does it come from? Is it physical, spiritual?

Jeff Buckley: It's the same place where your voice comes from

Interviewer: I don't have your voice, of course

Jeff Buckley: I don't have your voice. What I mean is...

Interviewer: It's natural

Jeff Buckley: It's just...ah...you know...your voice is your essence. Ask any singer. It's the most revealing thing you can possibly do, If you're not into a show and the whole band is together and even your guitar is like ya ya you think it's cool. And then your voice tells the entire crowd that you're not into it. There's no way you can lie about it. You can't like "Hi, I'm here la la la" You can't grimace, fake it. Your voice tells everything. Voice gives you information. You know how people talk in two languages, the word that they give you and the information that really is conveyed through the sound of their voice. That's how children learn how to speak.
